It was after only a first few scenes when all of us exploded in disgust.
"Oh My God!" We shrieked aghast.
"Look at those bushy 80s eyebrows!"
Jennifer Connolly who stars as the films lead heroine Sarah, sports a pretty decent pair of brows in The Labyrinth, and in the 90s, big brows were beauty crime 101. We could not get over it. The whole movie was spent laughing hysterically at the tufts above her eyes.
Gone are the itty-bitty skinny brows of the 90s and early Naughties. No longer are we expected to pluck almost all of our eyebrow hairs out and confine them to a tiny skinny line, like Sandra Bullock did in Demolition Man back in 1993. Even Sandra herself is sporting a fuller pair of brows these days.
But fear not! There are zillions of brow products out there to help you out if you need assistance in any area. I am a fan of ELF's brow kit. It's a super affordable compact that contains a tinted smoothing gel and a setting powder. Perfect if like me, you need something to keep the suckers in place! If you're looking to spend a little more, I also love Pro Longwear Waterproof Brow Set by MAC. It's a great formula in natural colours that does not budge all day - even when it rains! And it is super easy to apply. If you're looking more middle of the road budget wise then I recommend trying Collection's Work the Colour Eyebrow Kit. I haven't tried it yet but it looks great! It comes with a clear setting gel with wand applicator and three coloured powders, so you can mix them together to get your perfect shade and them stick 'em down! Sounds good to me! What's better, in New Zealand you can get it at Countdown. Very easy to slip into the trolley with the groceries!
It's official, brows are the new black. Don't leave home without them!
