This stuff is amazing! It covers seamlessly. It doesn't bleed into fine lines. It isn't chalky and it stays on for the whole day! I also love how easily it blends into the skin and that it is not shimmery or too dewy. Unfortunately though they only seem to stock it in two to three shades max. I went for the lightest option (fair) at first and found it to be just a bit too light for me, even though I am really quite fair. I opted for the shade darker instead and it is perfect! I do still use the lighter one as a highlight and it works really well. Such a good product! Perfect! I wish I could say the same about their lipsticks, but I cannot. I tried one of their lippies in Bubblegum (no. 6). While the pastel shade was great oh so pretty, it bled into my lip creases terribly. This was corrected when I used a concealer on my lips first though. It also smelled like something from a little girls make-up case - like a mixture between My Little Ponies and Strawberry Shortcake. While this may sound good, it gave me a rocking headache! I am very fussy about smells.
NYX Matte lipsticks - $7.00 approx online from Beauty Joint
These lippies are fabulous! They are matte so no sparkle, shimmer or overly glossy finish. The matte formula, whilst still surprisingly moisturising also helps them to stay on for a very long time. I went out for cake and coffee and came home to find my lippy had not budged. And it does not smell! It has no odour at all! Very cool. These guys come in a huge range of vibrant shades. Some of my favourites are Temptress - a peachy pink nude that evokes 1960s women in high-wasted bikinis, Streetcred - a vibrant coral pink, and Indie Flick - a high power orange. Great colours and not stinky at all! I have to say they are actually better than Lime Crime's matte lipsticks which tend to have a bit of a stink to them.
Australis Velourlips - $15.00 approx from K-mart
I am in love with the Lime Crime lip velvets. The go on like a gloss and then dry matte. Then, they stay put for hours! Though I love the Lime Crime variety they are pricey. One lip velvet will set you back around $30, so at a half the price Velourlips by Australis are a pretty good runner up. The formula is a tad chalkier than Lime Crime, which can be unforgiving if you have very dry lips - like I did. Though this can be rectified by applying a tiny amount of lip balm to your lips before hand, and perhaps even exfoliate your lips first. The colours in the Velourlips range are amazing! Super bright and funky and the pastel colours actually appear pastel on your lips, though they do come out a little more chalky than say the deeper red colour. The smell is good too. It is a little more fragrant than I usually go for, in a bubble gum type scent, but actually quite pleasant.
This stuff is a must have in the shower! I love coconut oil. For years I used to swear by expensive body washes that would supposedly moisturise my skin, whilst also cleaning it with harsh sulphates. It didn't really make sense, but it smelled good so then it must be good right? Not so much. Fragrance is just as drying as soap itself. The real trick is to just soap the important bits with a fragrance free, sensitive skin soap then use an in shower oil on arms and legs. The best part about this is it heats up in the shower, penetrating deeper in to the skin. When you hop out of the shower all the excess wipes off onto the towel and you are left with dewy, soft skin - no need to moisturise! I also use my coconut oil as a hair treatment and smoothing serum. As a treatment I jam a whole lot into the ends of my hair, leave overnight and wash out in the morning. As a product, I take a small amount and rub it into my palms then smooth over the ends. This stuff is great and one jar lasts months!
Dove Beauty Bar - Unscented Extra Sensitive - $5.00 approx for a two bar pack
I have used this soap for years! It is the only soap that doesn't make my skin itch. It is great for kids cus it doesn't irritate their skin like some "natural" products have done to my boys in the past. One bar lasts ages and truth be told, I used this soap on my face for years and years and never experienced any dryness or irritation! This is an amazing and affordable multi purpose soap.
Baking Soda - $3.00 for a 400g pottle.
Baking soda is amazing. It is totally under rated in my opinion. I use baking soda for so many things that I have started buying bulk loads of it! I use it to scrub tough stains off the stove. I used it to scrub the sink and I also use it to wash my hair! It is the best. It makes my hair feel clean and fresh without making it feel dry and frizzy. Baking soda all the way! I'll never use real shampoo again!
Cider Vinegar - approx $4.00 for 100mls.
Also know to me as scalp conditioner. The baking soda removes the oil and build up from the hair and scalp and the vinegar helps to make the hair shine. If you're game you can also drink cider vinegar every moring in a cup of hot boiled water. It is meant to be very good for neutralising the bodies PH levels.
I dicovered this stuff when I had my kids. It is a basic baby powder but it contains zinc - which assists with the healing of wounds. Call me crazy but I am sure this stuff helps pimples clear up quicker! I have taken to dabbing some on when ever I see a zit or rashy thing pop up on me or my kids and pretty much every time Curash works like magic!
Lucas Pawpaw Ointment - $11.50 approx from Countdown.
Lucas Pawpaw is the shiz! It is the best lip balm you will ever find! It is also good for burns and funny ouchy spots. Oh and let's not forget it is absolutely fantastic for treating nappy rash too. I would not be without a tube of this in my hand bag!
