Mariana - Almond Oil - This shit is good for everything - face, arms, legs, hands - the lot. So much cheaper than every other moisturiser in the entire world! Supposedly, Almond oil is the same PH as your skin. I don't know if that is true though. I will have to research (google it).
Lisette - I have never been one for following rules. Especially when I get told to. So naturally when I was told religiously to cleanse, tone and moisturiser as a teenager, I didn't. Well in all honesty I couldn't. Every time I'd try to be "good" and use fancy cleansers and toners my skin would react like Regan in the midst of her Exorcism. I learnt pretty quickly that I had better stick to boring sensitive skin care. But not any more! I have discovered the 'creme-de-a-creme of skin care for sensitive skinned persons! Osmosis is my new BFF and also my favourite past time too cus it is just so fun to use! I have an actual skincare regime now which is so delish it is like a four course meal consisting of: a tasty mint smelling cleanser (cleanse), a serum (relieve) which helps problem skin like mine (prone to rosacea) that smells just like medjool dates, that is followed by a spritz of facial conditioning spray (which has no odour) and the whole shebang is topped off with the delicious lime smelling moisturiser, Quench. Oooh Err I am finally fancy! And my skin looks amazing! It's not even the slightest bit red and crunchy any more! Winning!
Mariana - Poirot. The best show ever in the entire planet of TV. Poirot uses his little grey cells to solve mysteries. The show is based on Agatha Christie's novels and all the sets are so Art Deco.
Lisette - Nashville. I am OBSESSED with this show! Even though it is a tad incestuous and a lot of the characters at times seem to act out of type for the sake of drama, I love it. It is fabulous, and I am happy to announce it is actually filmed in Nashville. I felt very guilty for enjoying said show for quite a while as I feared it was filmed in an LA studio made to just look like Nashville, which if you ask me is just plain wrong. But fear not it is authentic at least in location. As I have never been to the US I cannot vouch for its authenticity on any other matter than what I can google from Wellington, NZ.
I have a massive girl crush on Scarlet O'Connor (played by Aussie actress Clare Bowen, which pretty much means she is a Kiwi if you think of Far-lap and Crowded House as Aussies!). She is by far my fave character. She is sweet but still has plenty of moxy. Enough to give you a bollocking if you're being a twat. I like that in a person. Perhaps that's why me and Mariana are such good friends.
But Scarlett is also my favourite because that girl can sing! She has a fab voice (but I am pretty sure her gorgeous long blonde hair is not real). I have her song 'Black Roses' (see below) firmly wedged in my head. New Zealand is half way through season 1 on poor man's T.V and if you are like me and far too impatient for that carry on, then you can download all episodes from itunes! Season 3 starts in September.
Mariana - Queen of the Tearling. Not released in New Zealand yet - think Hunger Games meets Game of Thrones (sort of….)
Lisette - As I have once again been hit with the flu, thanks to my cute yet germy loin fruit, I have been able to snuggle up in bed next to a box of tissues and bust my way through Caitlyn Moran's new novel How To Build a Girl in one day. Such a great book! I could not put it down! It had me laughing out loud many times. So much so that the lover-man told me to put it down at one point as I was "meant to be resting, not laughing snot all over the place like a rabid hyena." He didn't actually say that, but you get the idea. Definitely a must read if you are or ever have been a girl.
Mariana - The Yoots - It's Maori language week so I'm listening to Maori jazz music #awesome
Mariana - My favourite mustard yellow Noa Noa cardigan.
Lisette - I have finally started buying knitwear again after the passing of our cat Noodle some years ago. Noodle was a dear friend to us but he was a shit! He used to eat wool. Or actually any knitwear he could find. The more expensive the better though, little fucker. He totally ate me out of merino one winter. Funnily enough though his eating habits were actually the death of him when he burst his innards after taking on a woollen blanket he had found after scaling the wardrobe cupboards. With a newborn baby in tow I had to take him on a one way trip to the vet where I cried like a crazy woman as the vet 'gave him the needle'. Still makes me sad. But on a positive note! I managed to buy myself a nice new knit sweater without crying this winter! It is fantastic! So warm and snuggly and in fluffy leopard print, it looks good too! May Noodle rest in peace!
Mariana - Brown rice, sun dried tomato and basil tuna, and lite cottage cheese - quick, easy and surprisingly tasty.
Lisette - Food? Food. Blah. Nothing comes to mind. What have I been eating? Probably crap. Yep a whole bunch of winter crap, which is probably why my jeans have shrunk. So rude of them!
