If you must fall from the wagon, fall hard, right?
And I must say, it wasn't entirely my fault! I mean firstly, my mother was involved and she could enter the Olympics for shopping, I'm serious. She has a gift! Secondly, it never would have happened if Huffer didn't make such amazing clothes, and Max too. They both had a part to play. I did not act alone. And finally in my defence, I have children who never let me shop, and while my mother is over from Melbourne I finally get to do more than peek inside a shop from the mall court.
We were in Tawa when things turned bad. Tawa, Wellington is the home of Dressmart, the discount outlet mall. We were driving back from my son's swimming lesson when my mother pointed out the mall "Oh look I haven't been in there in ages! Lets just pop in for a look and a coffee." Hmm, I thought, do I dare walk into temptation? Surely I can handle it! And what's the harm? I'd been to Dressmart before and never really found much I liked. So in we went!
It's amazing how fresh and clean everything smells in stores that sell new clothing. So crisp, and clear. No wafts of mould, no suspicious ammoniac smells. Just breezy scented, unused clothing! And, you don't even feel the need to wash your hands after browsing the racks!
The fabric was so pretty! So many lovely things I tried but there was one that really broke me. It was an oversized singlet, made from the softest grey knit fabric, with a satin peach detail at the neckline. So simple, yet elegant and classy, with a peach pop. But I was just looking. So I took it off and went to put it back. "Oh, they're 60% off," said my Son's new best friend from his 'hide and go seek' hiding place behind a clothing rack. What! 60% off!? That's a steal! I had to buy it. And, it was only fair, this lovely guy had just been looking after my child for the last half hour. It would have been rude not to right?
Disaster. Nothing over $30.00! I don't know what happened next. It is a foggy blur. But somehow I ended up at the counter buying a fantastic pair of strawberry shortcake coloured jeans, a matte sequinned mini-skirt and a floral patterned T-shirt. I know. It's bad. But on the bright side it was such a bargain!
