This book is funny, macabre, dry and clever. It is a mash up of Pride and Prejudice and Sherlock Holmes and it holds true to the characters of both books while bringing in its own flavour.
"Mrs Bennett was a great connoisseur of feminine beauty and indeed it must be owned that she herself was a very handsome woman. As to the sweetness of her temper, there was less compelling evidence; yet in all her forty years she had given none of her family or acquaintance reason to suppose her a murderess."
Sherlock Holmes is Mr Darcy and that is how it all becomes interwoven. The novel originally started off as a novella but with convincing from the publisher (Paper Road Press), Debbie worked it up into a novel and I'm so glad she did.
