LPM: What inspires you?
HL: Tribal culture, pop culture ,handcraft and all things sparkly
LPM: What makes you get up in the morning?
LPM: Your style is quite different and interesting. Do you ever get scared of sharing your creativity with the world?
HL: No, I never really have, when I have put my heart and soul into my work I want to show everyone!
LPM: What kind of materials do you use?
HL: I use wool, silk, children’s craft beads and sequins
LPM: How did you end up getting into fashion?
HL: I kind of fell into a full time fashion course when I was in highschool, I was doing one of the classes, but the full time students looked like they were having so much fun! So I asked if I could please join the course.
LPM: What have been the highs and lows of designing?
HL: I always find I go a little bit crazy in the designing process. I feel like I am getting nowhere and it can be quite lonely. Then you come up with the end result and it was all worth it.
LPM: Do you have a favourite piece? One that holds a special place in your heart? Or do you love them all just the same?
HL: That’s a hard one. I think it all depends on my mood! Sometimes I don’t like any of my work, and other days I think its all great! I love gold , so maybe my favourite would be the gold outfit? But then I also love my kimonos !! and my turbans!!
LPM: What is your advice for other creative New Zealand women?
HL: To stay actively creative! I try to create something small everyday. It keeps me motivated and I feel like pushing myself and achieving something.
LPM: Is there anything else you would like our readers to know about Hannah Louise?
HL: I have a secret addiction to cats !! and cheese.
