My shower usually just consists of a quick soap off all over with my good old super sensitive Dove soap. I like it cus it doesn't stink like flower vomit. Then I jam some conditioner in my hair cus it's curly and if I don't it gets very mad at me. Seriously. If it isn't for the conditioner there is just no way to get a comb through it!
Oh you may have noticed that I did not mention shampoo. Yeah me and shampoo don't get on. It makes my head itch so I boycott. And you know what? My hair doesn't get greasy. I figure the more you shampoo the more you need to shampoo. So I don't and I don't need to. It saves a bunch! My hairdresser is always telling me about the importance of shampooing. I still not sure where I stand on this. Yeah so using shampoo does kinda make my hair shine, but so does a little cider vinegar occasionally. If a neutral party could explain to me the benefits of shampooing I'd be willing to consider it.
After I have soaped and conditioned it is time for my 'shower buddy'. Coconut oil. Yeah some people eat it. It tastes kinda sweet and well, a little coconutty (go figure!). I haven't really gotten into the eating of it but I LOVE it on my skin. My skin is quite dry. In winter my upper arms get all bumpy with what is known as 'Chicken Skin', or keratosis pilaris if you wanna be all fancy about it. All I do is grab and big wad of coconut oil out of the jar and let it melt on my skin as I rub it all over and SHAZZAM! all done! The excess comes off on the towel and I'm good to go. No moisturising required. The coconut oil has done it's job and left my skin all dewy. I'm dressed in a jiffy and free to break up the next fight over lego.
If you have quite bad 'Chicken Skin' try expoliating with a good scrub first and then apply the coconut oil. I find that works even better!
