Then the lights went down and one at a time the drummers started, a light illuminating their base drum as they began the synchronised rhythm.
Adorned in the new collection appropriately titled 'Noise', the models, sleek and androgynous made their way mutely down the runway while the drummers thundered on.
The combination of styling, make-up and clothing further reinforced the theme of Japanese samurai warriors, sent to fight a battle, marching to the beat of the war drums. The hair was styled sleekly but moulded into stiff ribbons at the lengths so that it splayed out almost cartoonically - just like it does in Japanese samurai animae films! It was very clever and most effective. The models were all shod in simple flat boots which complemented the flowing pieces perfectly. Adding to the futuristic feel, occasionally a model would wander past with a black or white painted ear peaking out from under a ribbon of animae hair, or from beneath a grey felted hat - in a style that can only be described as pilgrim bonnet meets samurai helmet.
Well done NOM*d and thanks for a fantastic show!
