Lou is about to meet Will. A man very different from her in many ways, who has found himself in an unfavourable situation. Gone is the high flying life he lived before, wearing expensive suits to work and climbing mountains in his spare time. Now he sits. In a wheel chair unable to move from the neck down. Though Will and Lou are an unlikely pair, their lives have now intertwined and they’ll never be the same again for it.
Me Before You explores love in a limitless manner. How the heart can extend through many obstacles. And how loving someone is sometimes letting them go. It delves into the issue of a person’s choice to live or die. And above all, the importance of a person’s freewill.
Sometimes in the darkness there is a flicker of light that can lead you where you need to go. In Me Before You, Lou and Will are each other’s light. This is a story of how a man who wants to die, saves a girl who is afraid of living.
This book had me in tears. I was gripped by every page, by the families, the characters and the humour. I was happy to discover that Me Before You is currently being made into a film, starring Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke as Lou and Sam Claflin as Will. I was even more excited to learn that the second book in the series, After You, has just been released. Can’t wait to read it!
